We did not get to go bird watching last evening as we had hoped to do. At 8:30 it was still a 100 degrees. At 10 pm we went for a moonlit stroll and it cooled down to maybe 85 degrees. The sky was beautiful... I think it was one day past full moon. Some of the stars were real bright... one, probably a planet looked almost orange. There was no need for a flashlight because of the moon.
About 258 miles were traveled by us around Big Bend Park. We had a great time!!
We left Rio Grande Village RV Park at 9:45 am (ET). The drive was pretty coming out of the park. We stopped between Big Bend and Marathon Texas to take a couple of pictures. The wind started picking up in speed.
We bought gas in Alpine Texas for $3.23 a gallon. We stopped in Marfa Texas for bread and got a hamburger at Dairy Queen... of course we had to get a cone to go :-)) Along in this area the wind picked up more and we were headed into it.
Past Marfa there was an Air Force Aerodrome field. I'll do some research on it sometime.
We arrived at Van Horn KOA at 3:15 pm (ET). $35 for night here. It is a typical KOA. There are some trees, but they are small. Chickens are roaming around in the minature golf course... so that makes it a little different than norm.
Frank called his parents and I play on FaceBook.
We caught our breathes and then took a shower and Frank cooked us supper of ham slices, cheese omelets and he heated up some pancakes. It was good. I am really blessed to have him as my husband.
We traveled 220 miles today.
