Saturday 08 May 2010

This morning we grabbed sausage biscuits and coffee from McDonalds to eat on the way to Saguaro National Park.

We looked hard for a Gila Monster. We may have seen one from a distance... it was a large lizard for sure. We saw lots of small lizards on our trip around the park. They are fast creatures.

We took the trip down to a picnic area. There is where we think we saw one of the monsters. The terrain was different in this area... lots of little flowers, prickly pear and bushes.

The clouds came in and made photographing a bit difficult. We saw white wing doves, curved-billed thrasher, a hooded oriole, and a finch looking bird that I have no idea what it is... I'll eventually get an ID. We saw a chipmunk, which was camera shy. There were also lots of butterflies flying about... flying being a key word; they did not light.

We bought gas in Tuscon for $2.91 a gallon.

We got home and had brisket, rice and canned green beans with potatoes for our dinner. I guess we needed a lot of starch :-))

We rested the rest of the day.
